Yucca rostrata
Yucca rostrata
Texan and Mexican native ornamental shrub. The small tree in nature grows to about 4 meters and typically remains unbranched. Its striking blue sphere of flat, subtly variegated leaves have sharp and flexible tips.
Yucca rostrata is an easy species to grow with minimal care (as are most Yuccas) and can remain in a pot for many years.
It is one of the most adaptable of the yuccas. It grows best in full sun and dry, rocky soils, and only requires supplemental watering in the hottest and driest months. It has adapted to withstand extreme temperature. It needs bright and sunny exposures, but in winter it resists even below 10°C.
Yuccas are great to add a southwest flare to gardens. An evergreen color and a unique leaf option for your landscape. A bold architectural element in ornamental pots or waterwise borders. A showy spike of white flowers bloom at its maturity.
